Are you looking for a cost-effective nourishing body butter? Do you prefer to nourish your skin with natural ingredients? Then this DIY body lotion with shea butter could be just what your skin needs.
Ingredients:
– ½ cup shea butter
– ½ cup coconut oil
– 20 drops frankincense essential oil
Shea Butter
Shea butter is a popular skin care ingredient that has been used for hundreds of years because it is full of healthy fats that makes it extremely nourishing and moisturizing. It works wonders for dry skin and for those who experience harsh winters because it helps to lock in moisture.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is similarly full of healthy fats which makes it extremely moisturizing. The fatty acids in coconut oil are antimicrobial which can rid the skin of harmful bacteria. Virgin coconut oil also has wound healing properties and boosts collagen. Use virgin coconut oil because it has a higher antioxidant capacity compared to refined coconut oil.
Frankincense Essential Oil
You can substitute this cream with other essential oils, I chose frankincense because frankincense is one of the best essential oils for your skin! It is highly regarded for its anti-aging abilities. As we age our skin cells don’t regenerate as quickly as in our youth, but Frankincense promotes the growth of new cells in our skin.
Frankincense is also very nourishing for dry skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, a study has shown it reduces the appearance of scars and stretch marks even helps fade scars.
